The message Barry most wants to send is that, "wolves are not pets." To Barry, this statement also applies to wolf hybrids.

"You're getting a Frankenstein cocktail of genetics," he says. "Hybrids are genetically unstable and therefore mentally unstable. They are very nervous and very hyper. They have the size and strength of the wolf, and the aggression of the domestic dog. A lot of people think that it's the element of the wolf that makes it unstable, but it's the very combination itself. Most people can't even handle a golden retriever, and they are very, mellow and very controllable."

Barry says that, "a wolf in captivity has all the genetic and instincts of a wolf. I see almost no difference between wolves in the wild and wolves in captivity."

Though Barry has kept wolves in what he describes as a "huge enclosure at his home." he stresses that it was only for educational purposes. "People get wolves for one reason," says Barry. "Ego, they want to control the beast."
